Groups of tech teachers in Estonia have been given a crash course in how to fly and assemble drones, something that they are expected to teach to their students. While drones rule the battlefield in Ukraine, drone flying is becoming mandatory at Estonian colleges. Although, one different argument used is that drones are good marketing for a career as a technical engineer.
The drone crash course for teachers is an initiative by teachers and the national association of engineers, the Estonian national broadcasting company ERR reported on 25 October.
In May, the Estonian government parties reached an agreement to make drone flying obligatory in Estonian high schools. Advocates say apart from its military purpose, drones are great problem-solving, programming, maths and physics. | © 2025 Marcel Burger, nordicreporter.com.
