In the biggest train deal of the country ever, Polish state railways PKP has committed itself to buy 42 double-deck trains from French manufacturer Alstom, who has production facilityies in Chorzów and Nadarzyn, Poland.

As PKP Intercity trains, the 42 Coradia Max , Poland’s national long-distance rail operator, to deliver 42 Coradia Max have been purchased for about EUR 1.6 billion. The contract includes an option to buy 30 additional trains, Alstom announced in its press release.

Cross-border with the Czech Republic

The six-car Coradia Max trains can transport up to 550 sitting passengers and are dual-voltage (3kV/25kV), allowing cross border traffic between Poland and e.g. the Czech Republic. There are already more than 500 Coradia Max trains in service in European countries.
