10,000 Polish soldiers are to be deployed on their home turf in an attempt to prevent critical infrastructure to be hit by sabotage. The government decision comes after Prime Minister Tusk indirectly accused Russia for the latest sabotage: the blow up of a small part of a railroad. Two Ukrainians working for Russian intelligence services—they reportedly fled to Belarus—are to blame, according to the PM.

The announcement was made on 19 November 2025, and the military operations has been named Horyzont (Horizon). The Polish government also ordered the closure of the last non-embassy level Russian diplomatic post in the country: the Russian consulate in Gdańsk. Those in Kraków and Poznań were already ordered to stop their work earlier. However, recently Polish police guards remained present outside the one in Kraków.

C4 explosive

On Sunday 16 November, the first reports of damage on the Warsaw-Lublin railline were reported. On Monday, officials said a C4 ) explosive device was used to blow up about half a metre of railroad line near the village of Mika. Further down the line the power lines of the same railroad were taken down or damaged.

The Polish government confirmed the damaged railroad is one of the lines in Poland that is being used to supply Ukraine with necessary goods. In October, Polish officials announced they arrested 65 individuals in earlier months suspected of sabotage on behalf of Russia. | © 2025 Marcel Burger, nordicreporter.com.
