There are about 17,500 active core criminal gangsters in Sweden, new data of the Swedish police shows. That is a 25% increase compared to last year. Another 50,000 people in Sweden are aligned with those gang members, meaning they are supporting or contributing to the criminal activities of the gangs.
The new numbers were published on 7 November 2025. The data shows a steady increase compared to last year, when the core gangsters were reportedly 14,000, and those aligned with them 48,000.
The average age of the gang members is 28 years old, with 81% having only a Swedish citizenship and 94% being male. | © 2025 Marcel Burger, nordicreporter.com. Featured photo of the Swedish flag by Marcel Burger
