The police law enforcement forces have arrested another eight suspects of planned sabotage actions in several places in the country. Authorities do not exclude the possibility of more arrests, according to a statement released on 21 October 2025. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk made the news public. Authorities say they have now detained 65 people in the past months suspected of either planning sabotage actions, planning terroristic actions, or acting on behalf of Russian intelligence services.
One of the suspects is a Ukrainian man who allegedly sent packages with explosives to Ukraine, with the purpose to have them randomly explode while in transport. Two other suspects apparently were mapping military installations in or near Biała Podlaska in eastern Poland. Another two were taken in Katowice, in the south of the country, and charged with a similar crime.
In the past, Russian intelligence services are said to be behind multiple sabotage or disruptive attacks against civilian location all over Europe, including hiring people via the Telegram message service to put fire to one of the biggest shopping centres of the Polish capital of Warsaw, Marywilska 44, in 2024.
Earlier this year, two Belorussians were arrested in or near Warsaw for flying drones over the city. It is not known if they are counted among the number of 65 the Polish government says has been arrested on aiding Russia or planning sabotage actions. | © 2025 Marcel Burger, nordicreporter.com.
