The Polish ambassador was already not at his embassy in Budapest, Hungary, since December, but now the Polish government has officially reduced the status of the diplomatic relations with the Hungarian regime. The Polish ambassador as a function has been withdrawn from the country.
Poland is angry at Hungarian authoritarian leader Orbán for harbouring a fugitive Polish politician, who escaped his arrest by seeking refuge in Hungary. Marcin Romanowski, from the conservative PiS party – is accused of being a member of organised crime, using crime as a source of income and of abusing power, while serving as Deputy Justice Minister in the former conservative government.
