On Tuesday, 3 February, the Polish Military Counterintelligence Service (SKW) has arrested a reportedly 60-year-old defence official on charges of spying for Russia and Belarus. According to Polish media sources, the man has been working in various positions within the military since the 1990s.
The arrest was later confirmed by the Polish authorities, while media sources report that the evidence apparently has been gathered during months. The man was arrested when he arrived at work on Tuesday.
It is not the first time in recent years that Poland arrests individuals for suspected acts of espionage or sabotage on behalf of Moscow or Minsk. Poland has been a strong supporter of Ukraine in its fight against the Russian invader and the Belarusian support. | © 2026 Marcel Burger, nordicreporter.com.
