The Swedish police has identified 544 people who are considered to be that highly instable that they could take the life of their partner, and about 316 others who could be potential serial rapists.

National police chief for preventing these crimes, Jale Poljarevius, confirmed the numbers in the weekly crime program Veckan of Swedish national broadcasting company SVT on 7 May 2025.

Operation Beta

The police’s mapping of potential perpetrators is based on various police sources, including investigations and reports by individuals of the public. To prevent the crimes from happening, the Swedish police assigned a special task force and calls it Operation Beta.

Meanwhile, Poljarevius acknowledges his police has to do a better job in identifying potential murderers. In three out of 17 recently investigated relationship murders of women, the police had no reports of the violence that occurred prior to the murder. | © 2025 Marcel Burger, nordicreporter.com (text and photo)
