Poland has reached a deal with the European Commission to use EUR 6.1 billion in EU post-Covid pandemic recovery money for defence and security purposes, the Polish government said on 23 May 2025.
The funds are to be directed to four main purposes: building structures such as shelters for the protection of civilians, boosting the Polish heavy and arms industries, improving dual-use infrastructure such as roads and airports, and beefing up the cybersecurity of the nation.
