Polish state postal services, Poczta Polska, will offer courier delivery services of live bees across the country. The company announced it in a statement on 14 April 2025.

“There are nearly 100,000 registered beekeepers in Poland,” says Monika Leleń of the Polish Association of Bee Queen Breeders (Polskiego Stowarzyszenia Hodowców Matek Pszczelich). “Thanks to high standards of bee transport, we support the development of apiaries and contribute to the preservation of biodiversity.”

No weekend overnights

With the safety of bees in mind, sorting office employees and couriers have undergone special training. Parcels will only be accepted from Monday to Thursday, so that the bees do not stay overnight in warehouses during the weekends. Poczta Polska says it likes to contribute to the biodiversity in the country.

While bees pollinate about 70% of food crops in the world, the insects are under pressure. Theft of bee populations is more common these days across Europe, as countries try to secure their food supply. | © 2025 Marcel Burger, nordicreporter.com. Featured image: Rhododendrites (CC)
