The Danish government has signed deals with multiple defence companies, including Patria of Finland and of France, to quickly deliver more weapons to the Danish armed forces. This is clear from news releases by the Danish Defence Ministry on 1 April 2025.
From Patria in Finland, Denmark buys 130 armoured personnel carriers for an equivalent of EUR 255 million. The first deliveries are expected already this year for training purposes, while the bigger batches will arrive from 2026. The Danes buy a 6×6 wheeled vehicle, which are operated by a crew of two and can carry up to 10 combat troops.
Anti-air, anti-tank and attack drones
From MBDA in France, Denmark is buying the Mistral short-range anti-air missile system, including “hundreds of missiles”, but further details of the first agreement have not been disclosed. Another EUR 160 million has been reserved for the purchase of new machine guns, anti-tank weapons, and very short-range attack drones. | © 2025 Marcel Burger, nordicreporter.com.
