Smashed windows of cultural centres, damages to buildings of businesses and threat messages to Belarusians in Lithuania, often with spelling errors. A series of incidents in Lithuania in the past years are the works of Belarusian and Russian secret services, the State Security Department (VSD) of Lithuania announced on Wednesday 23 April 2025.
The department said in a statement that since 2023, Russian and Belarusian operatives have been doing these actions – either directly or by hiring people ad hoc in Lithuania, “to create a feeling of insecurity” and to put Lithuania in a bad light.
