Joint Viking, a sizeable military exercise in Northern Norway, has kicked off. It brings together about 10,000 NATO troops from Norway, Belgium, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Military training ops are the heaviest along the Bjerkvik – Setermoen – Bardufoss – Nordkjosbotn line, with the general public in the Troms and Nordland areas are likely meeting many military columns until and after 14 March. On that date, Joint Viking will end.
The goal of the military exercise is for allied troops to train alongside Norwegian forces in harsh winter conditions. | © 2025 Marcel Burger, nordicreporter.com.
