Measured in Gross National Product, the Baltic states and the Nordic countries are the biggest donor to Ukraine. Trump’s United States comes 17th on this list, according to a recent listing by the Kiel Institute for the World Economy (IfW Kiel) in Germany.

In its continuous reporting, the Kiel Institute has been looking at the support ever since the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine started on 24 February 2022. Estonia and Denmark have both given 2.2% of their GNP in bilateral aide to Ukraine. This gross national product equals the total market value of the final goods and services produced by a nation’s economy during a specific period of time. Latvia, Lithuania and Finland donated between 1 and 1.8% of their GNP, followed by Sweden, Poland and the Netherlands with just under one percent.

In aid measured in absolute dollars, the United States still tops the list – by far – with USD 64.1 billion in military and 46.6 in financial aid. But this is still substantially way under the USD 300 billion that the Trump administration claims to have sent to Ukraine.

Poland tops the lists when it comes to the number of tanks delivered to Ukraine (354), followed by the Netherlands (104), Denmark (77), the United States (76) and Czechia (72). The United States is the biggest in providing infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine (352), but for the size of its country it is doing not that amazingly compared to the Netherlands (269), Germany (175), Czecha (131), Denmark (100) and Sweden (70). However, the United States tops the list of donors of heavy artillery and rocket artillery. | © 2025 Marcel Burger, nordicreporter.com.
