The number of people killed by gun fire in Sweden has remarkably declined in 2024, according to the statistics of the Council of Crime Prevention (Brottfsförbyggande rådet, Brå) of Sweden, and Swedish broadcasting company SVT.
In 2022 62 people were killed by fire arms in Sweden; in 2024 the number of gun murders landed at 44 – so about a third less. The number of wounded went down from 110 in 2023 to 61 in 2024.
According to SVT, the conflict between the Foxtrot and Dalen gang networks of 2022 and 2023 had somewhat become less intense last year. Moreover, expert Jan Lundbeck of Brå says to the Norwegian broadcasting company NRK that “there are also less (opponents) to shoot, as they have already shot many over the last couple of years”. | © 2025 Marcel Burger, nordicreporter.com (text and featured photo)
