Denmark and Sweden jointly buy a total of 165 BAe/Hägglunds CV90 armoured combat fighting vehicles. For Denmark, it is one of its biggest weapons purchases. For Sweden, it is a replacement order for vehicles delivered to the Ukrainian armed forces.

The Swedish/Danish deal was already in the making in May this year (see Sweden orders new combat vehicles, for itself and for Ukraine, Nordicreporter.com), but has now officially been confirmed by the FMV, the Matériel Organisation of the Swedish Armed Forces. The Swedish army will get 50 CV90, called Stridsfordon 90 in Swedish service, the Danish army gets 115 units.

The version ordered is the CV9035MkIIIC, and is equipped with a 35-millimetre Bushmaster automatic gun. The Stridsfordon 90s currently in Swedish service sport a 40-millimetre Bofors gun.

Confirming Ukraine got 50 Swedish CV90s

According to the press release by FMV, the 50 ordered for Sweden are a replacement for CV90s delivered to Ukraine, confirming the number of 50. In May, the number was believed to be 40 to 44, judging the order value at that time. FMV has confirmed now that the total order value is about EUR 2.19 billion, including supporting matériel and systems.
