Estonian-based airline Nordica ceases to exist after the planned privatisation failed. On Monday 18 November, the intended investor Lars Thuesen withdrew, after which the management board was forced to file for bankruptcy, according to a company’s press release of 20 November.

The end of Nordica comes 9 years plus a few days since the start of its air travel operations on 15 November 2015. At the height of its existence, it operated 19 aircraft: nine ATR 72-600 turboprops and nine Bombardier CRJ 900ER jet aircraft. As a plan to turn its fortunes around, Nordica even received one Airbus A320 and had nine on order.

For many years, Nordica was contracted by SAS Scandinavian Airlines for flights between the countries around the Baltic Sea. | © 2024 Marcel Burger, nordicreporter.com. Featured photo: A Nordica ATR 72-600 (Photo: Anna Zvereva (Creative Commons))
