German carmaker BMW has pulled itself out of the cooperation with the Swedish battery manufacturer Northvolt in Skellefteå. With an earlier commitment of 2 billion euros, Northvolt looses its biggest customer so far.

The news was first made public by the Swedish business newspaper Dagens Industri. According to Swedish television SVT, Northvolt was behind in beefing up the production, while BMW wishes to have them now for its current electric vehicle production.

To Swedish media, a press spokesperson of Northvolt says he feels the cooperation with the German car manufacturer might be picked up again in the near future. © 2024 Marcel Burger, nordicreporter.com. Press photo of Northvolt plant by Northvolt
