Very high avalanche risk in the mountains of Northern Sweden and Norway. This morning a snow slides threatened the shelter (Fjällstation) at the #Kebnekaise, Sweden's highest peak. Also high risk in the popular #Abisko National Park. #sweden

Three of the eight victims of the 20 year old man that went around stabbing people in the centre of Vetlanda yesterday, have life-threatening wounds. Suspect was shot, but is alive in hospital. Police still keeps manslaughter, not terror, as the main crime classification. #Sweden

Iceland prepping for a #vulcano eruption. Local experts fear that Mount Keilir, only 25 km (15 mi) from the capital #Reykjavik might erupt after being asleep for 800 years. The more than 11,000 earthquakes up to 5.7 on the Richter scale the past week could be signs. #Iceland

Swedish police shot and wounded a man who attacked multiple people with a sort of stabbing weapon in the centre of Vetlanda, a village almost 300km south of Stockholm. Police says it probably wasn't a terror attack. #sweden #crime #vetlanda

In 2006 I left my family, friends and the security of a relatively steady editorial job in the Netherlands to move to Sweden, for love. A heartbreak later I’m still around – having crisscrossed like crazy through my new land to make a travel guide book, adding a new career as a language teacher at elementary and lower secondary schools, becoming a freelance Scandinavia correspondent & fixer for Belgian and Dutch media. From Sweden I pop across the Baltic Sea, often to Poland where I sometimes live and work from.
